10 Skin Care Resolutions for The New Year

10 Skin Care Resolutions for The New Year

A New Year always brings a perfect opportunity to indulge in retrospection and reevaluate some of the old habits that we would like to change. I already made my list of things that I know I have neglected in my self-care routine, and plan to take very seriously the next twelve months! Care to join me in this challenge

  1. Eat Well

It might sound obvious, but sometimes the best advice is. Our skin relies on several nutrients to keep its glow and health. With a rich and balanced diet, you can ensure that your skin is getting exactly what it needs. This includes vitamins A, C, E, as well as good sources of protein. Plus, eating healthy brings other perks, like weight control and lots of energy, so this resolution goes on top of our list!

Some of my nutrition-tricks for a perfect skin are:

  • Eating gelatin: delicious and nutritious, this food boosts our supply of collagen, which helps to smooth out fine line facial lines and create firmer skin. You can also supplement your diet with pure isolated collagen.
  • Drinking lemon juice with warm water every morning on an empty stomach to help to maintain the pH balance of the body.
  • Eating lots of antioxidant (a full cup of berries every week is my yummy solution)
  • Only using a healthier version of oils. My favorite is organic coconut oil and I really like the brand Nutiva. Other great sources of natural oil are avocado and nuts.

  1. Wear Sunscreen Every Day

The second golden rule for beautiful skin, the one we all already know, but still have those "cheating" days. Not this year! Let's get to putting on SPF any day of the year, no matter the time of the year or the weather (artificial lights can be harmful, remember?). This way we are always protected from the signs of aging, and, more importantly, skin cancer.

  1. Visit The Dermatologist

Speaking of skin cancer, making regular appointments for skin checkups is resolution number three. It's also a great way to discuss specific skin issues and get tips and tricks to keep your skin healthy and rejuvenated.

  1. Review Your Skincare Routine

As we get older, our skin changes and requires updates to the skincare routine.  The dermatologist visit can be a great opportunity to evaluate what is happening and make changes, if necessary. Maybe it's time for a stronger anti-aging or a lighter toner; reviewing the products and habits is a good idea.

  1. Don't Neglect Your Body

We tend to focus on our skin face - which is not a bad thing, but sometimes we forget to pay attention to the skin throughout our entire body. Resolution number five: do not rush or skip the body exfoliation and hydration.

  1. Going Cruelty-Free with ALL Products

Animal testing in beauty products is completely unnecessary in 2020 (way longer, actually), and there’s no good reason to support it. Arianna Skincare has always been cruelty-free, and this year I want to make sure that I only support brands that do the same.

  1. Never, I Mean Never, Sleep With Make Up On

No matter how tired or how much wine you drank, never sleep in makeup.

Sleeping with our makeup blocks the skin pores, which means blackheads and acne. Besides, the skin recovers during our sleep, so sleeping with makeup restrains its renewal, which can lead to premature aging.

  1. Clean Makeup Brushes

When was the last time you cleaned your brushes? Our dirty makeup brushes can trap all kinds of bacteria as well as dirt, oil and other pore cloggers! Tip: To clean your makeup brushes, dilute 10 ml of neutral shampoo (baby brands are a great option) in a bowl with half a liter of water. Dip the brush into make circular movements until it is free of debris. Rinse and allow to dry thoroughly. Repeat the cleaning every fortnight.

  1. Prioritize Sleep

With our busy lives, I know that a good night's sleep can seem like just a dream (see what I did here?). But resting is important for SO many reasons, including skin health! It's the body - and minds - chance to rebuild, during this time is when our skin cells regenerate, so try to sleep at least 6/7 hours per night, and preferably early. For a great's night sleep, I always take my magnesium and melatonin 1 hour before going to bed. My favorite brand is Pure.

  1. Be Happy

The main secret to not abandoning your resolutions is making a list that you can stick to all year long. For me, staying away from stress, cigarettes and chocolates are my biggest challenges. But chocolate, even though it is not the BEST thing for my skin, it makes me happy, so I choose to eat it - in moderation. I find my balance to stay relaxed and stress-free for a happy life, with happy and clean skin.

cheers

These are my skincare resolutions that I hope can inspire you when creating your own list. I would love to hear from you: which of these resolutions you share and what are some different recommendations you have? Regardless what your resolutions are, I hope this will be the year that you reach all your goals!

Love,
Miri
